Yep, I think I remember Hogan beating Backlund for the championship in the early/mid-80s, no? I have some great cutouts of the current wrestler rankings from the early 80s.

And Daveo, keep plugging away on this bitch -- don't give 'er up. There aren't many (any?) early-wrestling sites out there, so eventually they'll find you. They'll probably do so slowly, but they'll make it over. :)

Profile Information

Hometown:
Rapid City, South Dakota, USA
About Me:
I was a huge fan of wrestling growing up -- way before it became a big mainstream moneymaker. I watched a lot of NWA wrestling -- home of Ric Flair, Tommy "Wildfire" Rich, Buzz Sawyer, Dusty Rhodes, The Road Warriors, Ricky Steamboat, Superfly Snuka and tons of others who became popular on a larger scale later on. When I was a kid, I had a huge scrapbook of wrestlers that I made from the wrestling mags that I would blow all my money on, and my mom just dug it out of storage last month -- it's sitting on my desk right now.

This will give you a clue about when I was into wrestling: when I got into it, Bob Backlund was the WWF champ, Nick Bockwinkel was the AWA champ, and (I think?!) Ric Flair was the NWA champ.

Wow, this is tough. From my childhood allegiance, I'm gonna have to say Tommy "Wildfire" Rich.
